The Language Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich offers courses in 12 languages to students and staff of both universities. These language modules are designed to support your studies in German and/or English and prepare you for international contacts and student exchanges. The Language Center also gives you the opportunity to learn a language with other students from a wide range of disciplines and to bridge the gap between languages. In addition to our language courses, the Self-Access Center has various tools for self-study, either as a complement to a course or in support of your autonomous learning.
ETH Zurich works with European and non-European universities to enable student exchanges. The Student Exchange Office is the contact point for students who wish to join a student exchange programme. Our services:
- Providing information about student exchange programmes
- Processing applications
- Providing administrative services for incoming exchange students and Swiss government excellence scholarship holders
- Collaboration with the Departmental Exchange Coordinators in the departments of ETH Zurich
Professional counseling can help you overcome difficult phases in life, troubles in your studies and conflicts arising during the course of doctoral study. We are here to offer quick and effective support – also in the case of an acute crisis. The counseling services are available to all students and PhD candidates at UZH and ETH Zurich. The sessions are confidential and free of charge.
ETH Zurich’s Hello Kids! service point helps ETH employees and students to find a suitable childcare place in the city of Zurich or their municipality of residence. There are for example childcare facilities on campus.
The ASVZ is a non-profit organization. It provides a sports program for all students, employees and alumni on behalf of the ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich and the Zurich universities of applied sciences (ZFH). As a student of ETH Zurich many courses are free of charge for you.
The ETH Student Services (StS) unit coordinates all the activities and services for potential and existing students at the interface between Swiss secondary schools and ETH Zurich, like financing, scholarships and international student support. This entails helping future students to choose a course of studies, preparing them for the reality of the study programme they have chosen and trying to make the initial phase of their studies easier.
ETH Career Center is the central organization at ETH for the career topic. It provides support to students and doctoral students on aspects of the transition to the work environment. The ETH Career Center organizes approximately 30 events per year with companies to allow students getting interesting contacts. The career event calendar offers an overview of all relevant career events at ETH.
The ETH Store is the number one shopping spot for stationery, books, merchandising articles and related services on the ETH campus. Students and staff may benefit of a customized product range, professional advice and exclusive discounts. The ETH Store operates five different branches – among them one at Polyterasse and one at Hönggerberg – as well as a online shop.
Project Neptun offers at the beginning of the spring and fall semester new laptops from selected manufacturers (currently Apple, HP and Lenovo) for the best possible prices. During the sales periods Projekt Neptun hosts Demo Days at ETH Zentrum and ETH Hönggerberg to give students an opportunity to test the offered hardware and ask questions. Further, there is a Help Desk in the ETH Store (ML building) where support for Neptun customers is provided.
International Student Support assists international Bachelor and Master students with entrance formalities, finding a room, insurance and general issues relating to life at ETH and living in Zurich.
